Last week the centre for mathematical sciences and the impact lab organized a week long course on machine learning. Every day from 13:30 to 17:30 there were a mixture of lectures and computer lab sessions on machine learning. The audience was a mixture of researchers from the University and people working industry.
The following topics were covered
- Introduction to Big Data
- Introduction to Neural Networks
- Gaussian processes
- Machine learning
- Introduction to Optimisation for AI.
- Topological data analysis
There was a special speaker from Amazon, who discussed the challenges of using Gaussian processes at Amazon.
